Very, very, Good! Out of town and googled nearest restaurant....Glad I chose Mexican and Rene's!!! It was a wait, but worth it!! The shrimp burrito was sooo good!! This was the 2nd best Mexican food I've had in CA. All I could say was wow while eating!!

Rene's has been a Poway institution for decades. This is a family owned restaurant where you come to have amazing food and to see old friends. Every dish is a family recipe made to order. The food is as good as you'll find anywhere. Actually better.

Actually really good one of the best mexican restaurants I've been to in san Diego and trust me it's really hard to find good Mexican food. But this place is a must.

I have been going to this restaurant with my parents Rob & Ann and more recently Girlfriend Kyrstin for over 5 years I believe. They are in my opinion the best Mexican food you can get in San Diego and if you have never been here before I highly recommend it as there staff are amazing and the prices are very good.

Sometimes the wait can be long when they are busy. When the arrives on your table it is always worth the wait. I highly recommend Rene's

Tried this place for the first time salsa and chips great my meal was good but the taco was the smallest taco ever for a 5 dollar taco I will try something different next time friendly staff

Family owned and operated for over 40 years. I've been going there since the 70s when my parents took me as a young boy. Now I take my wife and children. Wonderful people, excellent and consistent food, and the best margaritas I have ever tasted, hands down.

My food was good. (I had the carnitas plate.) Atmosphere is pleasant, quiet enough for conversation though the place was full. Service was attentive.

You just don't find large, sit-down dining, family-owned Mexican restaurants any more. This place has so much charm and really excellent food. Friendly staff makes you feel like home!

The decor makes this place! I'd definitely go back. Plus its in thr middle of thrift store mecca, I think there are 5 all right there. Which made this a perfect place for lunch after a day of shopping!

Rene's is so great every time we come here. The staff is always very friendly and the food is delicious. I recommend the Tostada Rene's as it is piled high with meat cheese and fresh veggies. It is so good. You can go wrong with anything on the menu! Definitely come here whenever you're in the Poway area!

I've already come here multiple times and every so often I'll come here when there's live music which just adds more atmosphere to an already atmospheric experience. The menu is authentic Mexican food featuring a variety of choice.

Started eating here 36 years ago when it was El Comal! Best Mexican restaurant around. The margaritas are fantastic and the food is second to none, especially the carnitas!! Servers are super friendly and great atmosphere!!

I really loved the old Hacienda style atmosphere of the restaurant. The place overall was warm and inviting... The service was excellent and the food was equally as good. I will definitely be coming again in the not-too-distant future.

Had a delicious massive bunuelo with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Perfect for two top share. It wasn't on the menu. We just asked for a dessert. Everything we did see on the menu was $10. The place is also really dark and creepy.
